The RST Contour Plus Level 2 back protector is tested to the higher standard set out under European standard EN 1621-2:2003. Alongside protecting the spine there is now considerable evidence that wearing a certified back protector can significantly reduce trauma in a major accident as they reduce the effect of impacts on the ribs and lessen the blows to internal organs too. A CE Level 2 back protector transmits less than half of the force of an impact compared to a CE Level 1 back protector.
